Five things Friday 01.16.15

Happy Friday!

1.  I love getting emails from you!  This blog is certainly a space online that gets just a teeny tiny amount of attention, yet I’m so thankful for each one of you that reads what I have to share each week.  I especially love when you comment or email me to chat over things further.  I love it when a reader emails me with a question I can help answer for them, too – I do my best to answer what I can and share whatever resources I know are available.  Please don’t ever hesitate to do so!

2.  Okay, so you’ve probably heard about the book “Fifty Shades of Grey,” yes?  Well, I never read it.  I won’t go into why I felt that wasn’t a good choice, but I just never wanted to read it (or the others in the series) when they were all the hype.  The movie comes out soon and my friend Julie shared this with me yesterday…

You can Trade your Shades.

Dannah Gresh and Dr. Juli Slattery are the authors of the book “Pulling Back the Shades.”

Instead of reading about Christian Grey’s perspective on sex, learn about God’s.

Between February 1st and 14th, you can mail them your copy of “Fifty Shades of Grey” and in return they’ll mail you a free copy of “Pulling Back the Shades.”

I don’t own the book, but I’m curious about reading theirs!
I’d highly recommend looking into this opportunity if you own E L James’ book.  Just click any of the links above.

3.  If you’ve never had the combination of toast + smashed avocado + sea salt + a fried egg, please make that for yourself ASAP.

4.  Have you ever heard of Mamma Chia?  I was recently sent a few bottles of their Chia Energy drinks to try out for myself, though I shared them with the hubby, too ;)  We both really liked the taste of each one.  They reminded us of the chia kombucha varieties, only not carbonated and more like juice, but with that same texture.
Some info about each bottle:

  • More than an entire day’s worth of Omega-3s (2500 mg)
  • 25 percent of one’s daily fiber (6 grams)
  • 4 grams of complete protein
  • 90 mg of natural caffeine (about as much in an 8 oz. cup of coffee)
  • Twice the antioxidants of a cup of green tea
  • Calcium, powerful antioxidants and valuable minerals

Like all Mamma Chia products, the new organic Clean Energy Drinks are Non-GMO Verified, gluten-free, vegan, Kosher and USDA Certified Organic.

In my opinion, they are fairly high in added sugar, so I wouldn’t recommend having one every single day.  They’re more like a once or twice a week kind of a deal so that you can reap the benefits but not overdo it on the sugar.

Retailing for around $2.99 per bottle, the Clean Energy organic beverages are available in four flavors and will be available at select retailers, including Whole Foods, Safeway and Target, starting this month!

5.  Does anyone else have an extra long weekend?  Jesse and I both have the day off on Monday so we’re excited to have an extended weekend to hang out.  There’s even a parade in SF to celebrate MLK Jr. Day that we might venture over to.

Be sure to stop by the blog next week – you especially won’t want to miss Tuesday’s post! :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

disclaimer:  I was given four bottles of the Mamma Chia Chia Energy Drinks in exchange for my review.  All opinions express are completely my own and honest.  No other compensation was received.
